The International 2019: PSG.LGD team ranks 1st at the end of the Group Stage

The PSG.LGD team is currently gathered in Shanghaï to compete for the “The International”, the world-famous tournament that will close the Dota 2 pro circuit season. The competition is taking place for the first time on Chinese soil, which gives our team a certain advantage: playing at home and in front of its audience is always more comfortable. And this was verified during the group stages as our team finished first in its group with a total of 5 wins, 3 draws and 0 losses. Here is a look back at these first 3 days of competitions, already full of emotions.

After a particularly successful season, the PSG.LGD team is now one of the 12 teams invited to participate in this prestigious tournament. Indeed, The International is the largest Dota 2 tournament with an impressive annual cash prize, breaking the world eSport record every year. This year, the 18 participating teams will share the impressive sum of $33,345,720… This is the largest amount ever recorded in the history of eSport. Something to motivate the troops!

And motivation, our team seems to have a lot of it. Because it simply over flew these 3 days of Group Stage by putting in superb performances against its 8 opponents and not conceding any defeat. Among these we can mention a high level battle against the famous Team Liquid, winner of the 2017 edition and 4th last year, in which the Team PSG.LGD has made 2 exceptional games to win 2 to 0. We can also mention another victory 2 to 0 against our great rival and world n°1: the Team Secret. A victory that allows our team to take the lead and build confidence for the rest of the tournament.

An almost perfect journey that allows the Team PSG.LGD to meet Team Virtus.pro, 4th of group B, in the first round of the Upper Bracket, as every year since The International 2017. It seems like we’re meant to be together. This game will take place on August 20th and you can watch it on the following Twitch link: www.twitch.tv/dota2ti.

As Yassine Jaada, Chief Gaming Officer of PSG Esports said, “The International is the largest Dota 2 competition and one of the largest eSport competitions in the world. After finishing second last year, it is clear that our ambition for this 2019 edition is to end up on the first place on the podium”. Well, that’s said.

Indeed, Team PSG.LGD actually placed second last year and thus obtained the best place in the LGD team’s history since its first participation at The International in 2011, a sign that the partnership between the 2 teams is paying off. It is impossible to bet in a tournament of this level with teams of such quality, but what is certain is that we have great confidence in our players and wish them good luck for the rest of the tournament. Allez, Paris!
