ESWC FIFA 17 : DAXE WORLD CHAMPION

PSG DaXe : When a dream comes true

October 31st, Paris. Lucas ‘DaXe’ Cuillerier became FIFA 17 World Champion at the ESWC that took place during the Paris Games Week.

This year the competition was held in FUT mode which means that the participants were able to compose their own team. It made the tournament full of surprises for both players and spectators : a single mistake could cost the win. After seven games in playoffs, PSG eSports players August ‘Agge’ Rosenmeier and Lucas ‘DaXe’ Cuillerier managed to qualify for the knockouts stage.

Unfortunately only DaXe made it through the round of sixteen and pushed himself toward the quarterfinals where he faced one of the favourites of the tournament, Spencer ‘GorillA’ Ealing. Not without struggling, as DaXe lost the first match 3-0, the rookie remained confident and successfully nailed the second round, winning 5-1.

Accessing the semifinals, Lucas ‘DaXe’ Cuillerier knocked out the Russian Andrei ‘Timon’ Gurev, winning 5-1.

Cheered by his staff and the crowd he finally qualified for the tournament’s finals.

History at work, the second finalist had to be Timo ‘Timox’ Siep, playing for the football club VfL Wolfsburg. With a beautiful early game Timox managed to score at the 10th minute, putting the board to 1-0 for the first half-time. But it is not that easy to break DaXe’s mental, who kept handling the pressure and tied the match at the 46th minute.

The next few minutes of gameplay were very tensed, with an audience of three thousand people on fire. Eventually, PSG eSports player Lucas ‘DaXe’ Cuillerier managed to put the crucial goal at minute 82.

At only sixteen, in a challenger position, the young talent affirmed his playstyle and drove himself to victory, bringing at the same time the first trophy for Paris Saint-Germain eSports.

After such performance, the hopes intensify for the “not-so-rookie” player and we are all excited to follow him in the coming season.
